Dr. Karina Christopher (she/her/hers) fulfilled her dream to become a faculty member at Berea College in 2024. Her professional career began as a clinical dietitian at hospitals and at an outpatient oncology center. She enjoys providing medical nutrition therapy to improve the overall health of individuals. Following her career in clinical dietetics, she began working in higher education teaching medical nutrition therapy, fundamentals of nutrition, food science, food culture, and sports nutrition. With her educational background in gerontology, she also taught social gerontology and family dynamics and aging. She uses her real-world experience to enhance the learning of students.
Professionally, Dr. Christopher provides sports nutrition consultation with athletes of all ages. She is a past-president of the Kentucky Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and currently serves at the House of Delegates for this organization. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities like kayaking and pickleball, with family and friends. She also loves to cook and read while snuggled up with her cats. She has lived in Berea over 20 years and is always willing to give advice for the best places to eat in town.
