Bio

Dr. Jasmine Jones is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department at Berea College. Her field is Human-Computer Interaction, where she specializes in the study and design of interactive embedded systems in social, multi-user contexts. Her recent research, supported by an NSF CAREER grant, has focused on technologies for preserving and sharing family memories. She teaches in the "Design" track in Computer Science as well as interdisciplinary courses. In addition to regular teaching, Dr. Jones serves as the founding director of the Berea College Makerspace.
Before joining the faculty at Berea, Dr. Jones worked as a Postdoctoral Associate in the GroupLens Research Group at the University of Minnesota, where she designed digital self-reflection tools for people adopting positive behaviors in recovery from substance abuse. She received her PhD from the University of Michigan School of Information (UMSI), where she was National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow and GEM Fellow. She earned Bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC).
