Kat Moses (she/her/hers) was born and raised in Somerset, where she resides with her wife, JoAnna ('11), and a slew of cats. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Chill Out & Proud Somerset, an annual grassroots Pride festival that aims to affirm, celebrate, and facilitate safe spaces of belonging for queer folks in the Lake Cumberland region and greater Appalachia. She is a neurospicy Reputation-era Swiftie and collector of many things: anxieties, cats, Funko Pops, Halloween-themed home decor, local art, Squishmallows, and vinyl records. Kat has worked in higher education support, survivor empowerment, and hospitality. She dreams of opening a community programming and resource center for marginalized peoples.
While a student at Berea (’12), she majored in Women’s Studies, joined the cohort who marched at Occupy Wall Street and in support of a Berea Fairness Ordinance, served in the SGA, and was a member of the Bel Canto Treble Choir. She worked in Residence Life and as an administrative assistant in both the music and WGS departments.
