Grew up in Japan as the third of four children of missionary parents; attended Carson-Newman College (now University) and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Taught at North Greenville College (now University) in SC. Did doctoral work at the University of Kentucky. Worked at Asbury College (now University) as Departmental Assistant in Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics from 1992-1998. Worked as Science Librarian and Building Manager for Division I at Berea College from 09/01/1998 - 06/30/2022. Returned to Berea 02/05/2024 as Office Manager of the Campus Christian Center. Married to Loren Wayne Hooker, Jr., since 01/13/1979.
