My name is Sarah Durham, and I am the Family and Community Services Coordinator at the Boyd & Gaynell Fowler Child Development Lab, which is located on Berea College's campus. During my college career at Berea, I found my passion for working with and advocating for children and adults through community service and working with programs such as Habitat for Humanity and AmeriCorps. After graduating in 2004 with a BA in Child Development & Family Studies, I served the community as a Telecommunications & 911 Dispatcher in Berea followed by six years working as a Public Safety Officer for Berea College. Following my work with adults, I shifted my focus to serving the youngest members of our community. With over ten years of classroom teaching experience in early childhood, I have become more passionate about showing others how competent and capable children truly are.
