Writing Resources
About Writing Resources
Writing Resources serves as Berea College’s writing center, assisting students, faculty, and staff with all types of writing at any stage of the writing process. We can help with understanding assignments, brainstorming, organization, flow, language mechanics, formatting, and formal citation. Our peer consultants are supported by professional staff and undergo ongoing training in writing and tutoring pedagogy throughout their labor experience.
Writing Resources is located on the main level of Hutchins Library next to the Reference Desk (Offices 223, 243, and 244).
Spring 2025 Hours
What to Expect, How to Prepare
Live (in-person or video) consultations are 50 minutes long and begin at the top of the hour. Students can make up to three appointments per week. Your consultant will greet you, ask about the assignment, and set goals with you for the session. If possible, bring your assignment sheet. Our consultants will not “just edit” the paper for you. Instead, they will ask questions, listen, and speak with you about why you made the choices you did to help you improve as a writer, so you will need to be physically and mentally present for these consultations. Our Paper Upload consultations are 50 minutes long, but you will not need to be present; instead, the consultant will provide written comments that they will upload back to your appointment form after the session time is over.
