The Edward FitzGerald Opportunities Fund

The Edward FitzGerald Opportunities Fund was established to provide support to the Center for International Education (CIE) in purchasing seasonal clothing for non-domestic Berea College students. This fund honors the late Edward FitzGerald, Hon. ’03, who served as the International Student Advisor and Head Resident for Danforth and Dana Residence Halls during his 20-year tenure at Berea College. Chad Aull established the Fund in 2020 in memory of his father-in-law. Edward was the father of Marisa FitzGerald Aull ’99 and Eamonn FitzGerald ’03.

Center for International Education

Berea College’s Francis and Louise Hutchins Center for International Education fosters understanding of, and respect for, all peoples of the earth. Established in 1998 as the International Center, the Center for International Education (CIE) was dedicated in November 2006 to Francis and Louise Hutchins in recognition of their work in China and America in fostering respectful and mutually beneficial international relations.

The Need

Berea College currently has students from 64 countries and many hail from regions with climates that are very different from Kentucky. Warm clothing, jackets, and supportive shoes for walking across campus in the winter are often needed for these students.

Your gift to the Edward FitzGerald Opportunities Fund can help make a difference and play a part in our international students’ success.
