Kentucky-Talcott
Residence Hall
Kentucky-Talcott Hall houses approximately 196 first year residents on four residential floors, which are each split into two wings. Each floor has primarily double occupancy rooms, access to a study space, a shared restroom, laundry room, and kitchen. The facility provides elevator access to all floors, building wide air-conditioning, and internet services in each room.
Kentucky-Talcott provides a mini-fridge in each room and large windows. Each floor’s main entrance has a large lounge area which is perfect for entertaining and building community. The basement lobby has two pool tables, a piano, and a built in low rise stage. There is one small group study room on the second floor and two additional large group study rooms on the third floor which are great for independent or group work time. A live in professional staff member is on sight at this location to help meet the needs of each resident and promote and participate in the thriving hall community.
Kentucky residence hall was built in 1916 with Talcott residence hall being completed the following year. Kentucky-Talcott was renovated and combined in 2003, giving the building a modern aesthetic featuring large open lobbies and large windows for more natural lighting. The open layout and a selection of mixed mediums in the building design help create a lively and comfortable environment that promotes social interaction. There is a lush outdoor green space on multiple sides of the building, with the space behind Talcott being the largest. The hall is also in wonderful proximity to important campus resources and academic buildings as it shares a lawn with the Hafer-Gibson building which houses the Labor Program Office, and the hall is a 3-5 minute walk from the Office of Internships and Career Development, Printing Services, CPO, the Farm Store, White House Clinic, and the Margaret A. Cargill (MAC) Natural Sciences and Health building.
The hall currently has 24/7 visitation, and houses multiple living communities such as Gender Inclusive Housing and Co-Ed communities within the hall.
