Bio

I am a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University (17 December 2005), with a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies (Arts and Sciences), which included paralegal work (with internship), along with a minor in Police Administration. My undergraduate background includes course work in civil, administrative, and criminal law, along with course work in private investigation and assets protection. I am a former volunteer (paralegal intern) for Appalachian Research and Defense Fund of Kentucky, which provides legal services for "low-income clients in the Appalachian Region of Eastern Kentucky." Thus far, I have earned two Masters degrees: a Master of Arts in Theological Studies (2013), followed by a Master of Divinity (with Chaplaincy Concentration, 2020). I returned to seminary to pursue a Doctor of Ministry in Biblical Studies, where I have thus completed four courses as May 2024.

Military background: I was honorably discharged from the Kentucky National Guard 15 November 2006. During my service, I obtained three military occupational specialties: 12-B Combat Engineer, 92-Y Unit Supply Specialist, and 92-A, Automated Logistical Specialist. I was employed for ten years as a defense contractor, working with the Kentucky Army National Guard. From 2014-2018, I worked for the Directorate of Logistics, where I was the Site Team Lead, assisting in the Army National Guard’s transition to a Systems, Application, and Products (SAP)- based logistics program known as Global Combat Support System - Army. Prior to this assignment, I worked at the United States Property and Fiscal Office, from 2008-2014.

Personal background: I am a bi-vocational pastor over 17 years of experience, working in a very rural, Appalachian church. I am married to Sherri, who is a trained Advocate in Action for the ARC of Kentucky. I have two adult sons that I am very proud of: Jordan Thomas, and Christian Chase. Jordan earned a BFA from Eastern Kentucky University in Graphic Arts, and he proudly works with the special needs community. Chase is very active, participating in our outreach programs, and Special Olympics.
