For the second consecutive year, Berea College receives Kentucky’s only Five-Star Rating by Money Magazine

BEREA, Ky. – For the second consecutive year, Berea College is the only Kentucky college to receive a Five-Star Rating by Money Magazine in the magazine’s 2024 Best Colleges list.

Now in its 10th year, Money’s analysis showcases the country’s top colleges based on graduation rates, cost of attendance, financial aid, alumni salaries and more. In an explanation of their methodology Money states, “there isn’t one ‘best’ college for every student,” but that their star rankings can help potential students build a list of standout schools that fit their budget.

Money starts their analysis of all four-year public and private nonprofit colleges and universities in the country— – more than 2,400 colleges. To be considered, a school initially had to have at least 500 undergraduate students or 150 first-year students; have sufficient, reliable data to be analyzed; not be in financial distress; and have a graduate rate above the median for its institutional category or score in the top 25 percent of graduation rates after accounting for the student body. Only 745 of those 2,400 schools met the consideration requirements in Money’s initial cut.

Berea College was one of only 54 of the 2,400 schools analyzed by Money Magazine to receive the five-stars top distinction.
