BEREA, Ky. - Small Time Napoleon, a band who calls themselves “a combination of new ideas and old sounds,” will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at Berea College.
This convocation is free and open to the public.
According to their website, the band’s “interest in the jazz standards of the swing-era shine through in their voices, writing and playing, while their ear for new sounds and ideas constantly drives them forward.”
Small Time Napoleon is comprised of four members; Dan Hardin (vocals, guitar), Jeff Thomas (vocals, guitar), Dave Neill (bass, vocals) and Zack Kennedy (drums, percussion) to make the unique sound that is Small Time Napoleon. Founded in the spring of 2013, Dan Hardin (vocals, guitar) and Jeff Thomas (vocals, guitar) created an acoustic duo, but wanted to expand their sound into something more. They added Dave Neill (bass, vocals) and Zack Kennedy (drums, percussion) to complete that sound.
This convocation is a part of the Stephenson Memorial Concert series. The Stephenson Memorial Concerts were founded in 1987 by Louis B. Stephenson Jr. and Edna M. Stephenson in memory of their daughter Nancy Anne, who passed away early in her childhood, and for their son, former Berea College President John B. Stephenson. The concerts reflect the interests of Nancy Anne and John, bringing the culture of many different places Berea College students.
Since its inception, Berea College Convocations has made lectures and the performing arts available without charge both to Berea College students and to the public. Persons wishing to contribute to the endowment fund for Convocations are invited to contact the Development Office at (800) 457-9846.
Berea College Convocations are held in the College’s Phelps Stokes Auditorium, which is accessible to persons with disabilities. Wheelchair access is available through the west entrance facing the art building.
