COACHE Survey Results
The COACHE Team is ready to share out the results of the COACHE Faculty Job Satisfaction Survey, the survey that all continuing faculty members not in their first year wereinvited to take last spring. After weighing the options, we decided to use a Moodle site to share the date because it is both secure and allows for us to gather your feedback in a familiar platform. Please find the COACHE Survey site at the following link:
https://moodle.berea.edu/course/view.php?id=22105
On this Moodle page, you will find the following:
1. A Tableau data dashboard that allows you to interactively view the data and see how the faculty, as a whole, along with various subsets of faculty (e.g., by rank or division) responded.
2. The Executive Summary of the data prepared by COACHE that shares their global findings and recommendations for areas to focus on that might lead to an increase in faculty satisfaction (.pdf document).
3. Copies of the official COACHE data dashboard that graphically show how Berea College’s responses compare to a set of regional peer institutions and a national set of liberal arts cohort institutions.
4. Two options for sharing feedback, a public Moodle forum along with an anonymous Qualtrics survey.
For people new to our community or those who want a reminder of why we selected the COACHE survey for this work, please refer to their website at https://coache.gse.harvard.edu/faculty-job-satisfaction-survey.
We are planning a two-stage process moving forward to gather input directly from faculty to develop a set of recommendations and action items to share with the community next spring. Throughout the rest of fall 2024, members of the COACHE Team will be reaching out to academic divisions and departments to arrange times to discuss the survey and hear feedback and recommendations. Additionally, three town hall meetings will be held for faculty to gather by rank (assistant, associate, and full) to further listen to faculty as they gather in these different groups. To our knowledge, this will be the first time that faculty have been invited to gather by rank to share feedback about their specific experiences. Our plan is to propose a set of immediate/short term action items that could respond to any low-hanging issues along with some intermediate/long term action items to propose solutions for the more complicated issues that reduce faculty morale and satisfaction. Please take some time to review this data and share your thoughts, hopefully in person at the upcoming meetings. We also welcome feedback directly through the Moodle site. All faculty responses will be considered and used to draft the final report and recommendations.
Sincerely,
The COACHE Team
