Bio

Megan was born and raised in California, but her extended family is from Kentucky. Many of her fondest childhood memories are from adventures on her grandparents’ farm in Mayslick, and she has always felt nostalgic for the landscape and lifestyle of rural Kentucky.

Megan’s career trajectory was strongly influenced by her AmeriCorps service with City Year, an organization that focuses on improving student achievement in under-resourced schools. After two years of national service, she joined staff at City Year and later chaired the Alumni Board in Seattle. Her work experience includes 15 years as a development professional and volunteer manager at nonprofits. Most recently, however, she oversaw human resources for a small, family-owned and operated wilderness lodge in Denali National Park. Wherever she goes, Megan strives to cultivate a community built on mutual responsibility.

Outside of work, Megan is an avid knitter and an enthusiastic new sewist. Really, she just likes to make things with her own two hands, including growing, harvesting, and cooking food.
